Jeremy Hockman - Founder and 1st President of DEV
Jeremy Hockman founded Duke Eco-Marathon (the original name of Duke Electric Vehicles) in his sophomore year at Duke University after attending the competition and becoming inspired. He grew the club into a successful organization after the team initially joined the ranks of the Eco-Marathon in 10th place. The following year, he lead the team to 3rd place in the same category. His legacy continues to drive our success.

Matt Block was also critical to the founding of Duke Eco-Marathon. His expertise with electronics was essential to building a functional drive system in the inaugural entrance of Duke Eco-Marathon into the Shell Eco-Marathon Competition. Matt also developed the battery-management system that protected our drivers for the first two years of the organization.
